Mental Game Tips for Athletes and Coaches

Practice Mental Skills Too; Not Just Physical Skills

December 15, 2010 By Patrick Cohn

Your athletes must improve their mental skills just like they improve their physical skills if they want to perform to their potential. The mind drives the body. When athletes minds are not focused or confident, they won’t use the physical skills they’ve refined through practice during competition.

Mental skills, just like physical skills must be practiced to make them automatic (well learned). When mental skills are ingrained, your athletes can easily apply them to competition! Coaches must reinforce the idea that their athletes practice mental strategies as part of their regular training and practice routines!

Check out the Mental Game Coaching Professional course for more information on coaching the mental game.
