Team Captains Help Cultivate Confidence

March 21, 2011 By Patrick Cohn

Confidence is a mindset not just for your individual players but for your whole team. A group of confident players supporting each other makes for a very confident team. As a coach, you are not alone in supporting your team’s confidence. Team captains act as a liaison between players and coaches, so they will help you support your team’s confidence.

Team leaders help cultivate confidence through their leadership qualities and understanding how important confidence is for success. Ask your leaders to support team confident by:

1. Making newer members feel part of the team.

2. Leading by example. Leaders always are the hardest workers by design. Make sure they continue to show others with their actions.

3. Modeling mental toughness and confidence.
