Cope With Fear of Failure

December 1, 2010 By Patrick Cohn

Fear of failure is a massive source of stress or anxiety that sabotages your performance. Fear is an uncomfortable and often strong emotion caused by an awareness of danger or a threat. In sports, your fear is a psychological threat that is often based on worry or the importance of a performance or game and what others might think about your performance.

Your fear usually is about the negative consequences of your performance. You worry about things that are not under your control. You must understand your fears and anxiety in sports, and recognize that not all fears are rational or based on reality. You must recognize irrational fears that prevents you from performing freely and at your peak.
